Last time Jason Ringenberg was in the Highlands he was one of the leading lights on the first ever The Belladrum Grass Roots Stage, delivering a searing solo performance to a packed delighted tent full of fans. Later that day he introduced Farmer Jason to a smaller but no less delighted tent full of enthralled kiddies and proud parent fans. These days after two very lucrative record releases for Farmer Jason its difficult to tell who is the bigger star.
Farmer Jason http://www.farmerjason.com/ is the down-home twin brother "wink wink", of the god-father of Alt Country. Cowpunk legend Jason Ringenberg is renowned as the lead vocalist and ringleader of seminal roots band Jason And The Scorchers. His "twin brother" children's music star Farmer Jason, has also been drawing sell-out crowds with his rollicking delivery of catchy songs and good times. " http://www.farmerjason.com/presskit.htm
Jason and the Scorchers came careening onto the indie rock scene seemingly out of nowhere (truth was, it was Nashville) with a debut EP whose most killer track (among a slew of killer tracks) was a fire-breathing cover of Bob Dylan's "Absolutely Sweet Marie." This amalgam of speedy hard rock fused with Ringenberg decidedly country twang, along with the band's ability to deftly negotiate between Rolling Stones-style stomps and quieter, more melodic acoustic country music, led to Jason and the Scorchers being in the vanguard of The Paisley Revolution that brought to recognition the likes of, The Long Riders, Georgia Satellites, and REM in the 80's. Now widely lauder at The God Farther of Alt Country, Ringenberg has continued to record country-oriented incisively lyrical solo work, including collaborations with contemporaries like Todd Snider, Steve Earle, Swan Dive, Kristi Rose and Lambchop.
Jason Ringenberg http://www.jasonringenberg.com/01_jr_content_%20pages/14_jr_presskit/jr_presskit_body.html has in the main part in recent years become best known for his live show and energy of performance, playing everywhere from Shetland to South Australia, no one ever forgets a Jason Ringenberg performance. The Ironwork Lounge StageMay 25 (afternoon)Farmer JasonMay 25 (evening) Jason Ringenberg The Ironworks 0871 7894 173 www.ironworksvenue.com Inverness, UK £3.00 in advance for Farmer Jason, £6.00 Jason special Offer for Medicine Music mailing list 2 for one deal, email me now rob@medicinemusic.co.ukBook now.

When Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett were invited to take their Little Feat Acoustic Duo to a sold out Strathpeffer Pavilion for the only Scottish show last November by life long fans Steve McDonald (Square Wheels Cycles of Strathpeffer) and Rob Ellen (Medicine Music) collectively know these days as Medicine Wheels, "we never really expected that Paul and Fred's promise to come back with the band would be more than very friendly banter and the highest of wishful thinking on our part" says Rob. "However here we are with a life long ambition being announced and we now have the perfect venue for a show of this magnitude here in the Highlands, in The Iron Works " . Not only that but the Highland date which is the last date on the bands first UK Tour in over a decade, falls firmly on the first date of this years Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival Fringe, which Square Wheels are exclusive sponsors and Medicine Music established to highlight and set the mood for the first Belladrum Festival in 2004, "this seems like synchronicity on a dramatic scale" Rob professes .
In his preface to a recent Little Feat retrospective compilation, the band's Paul Barrere wrote, "It's almost 33 years ago exactly since Mr. [Lowell] George came to the front door of the Laurel Canyon house I was livin' in, with that beautiful white p bass in hand, and asked if I wanted to try out as bass player for his new band. As most who know the story's end can tell you, as a bassist I make an excellent guitarist, and 3 years later-- when I finally began my stint in Little Feat-- I would never have guessed that I would be here writing these liner notes to yet another chapter in the now storied life of a band that has been my life, and a true labour of love."
Truth is, there really is no story's end yet, and Little Feat have indeed led a storied life ever since they formed in 1969. From then on, their unconventional signature of earthy, organic appeal and polished, first-rate musicianship wrapped around eclectic and memorable songs--clearly delivered as an authentic labour of love--has been a lasting fixture on the musical landscape. As American as apple pie--and rock n roll itself--Feat's music transcends boundaries, a freewheeling fusion of California rock and Dixie-inflected funk-boogie. In the mix as well are strains of folk, blues, rockabilly, country and jazz, inventing a hybrid sound that is truly Little Feat's own and makes them simply one of the best bands in the history of Rock "N" Roll.
Steve McDonald comments when asked about his philanthropic support of The Tartan Heart Fringe and his love of Little Feat. "I first heard them on record in 1972, first saw them live 1975 at Park Head supporting The Who and they blew them of the stage, and never in my wildest dreams did I thing that all these years later we'd all be still going strong! Its a privilege to support the Tartan Heart Fringe and and doubly so to be in a position to host Little Feat on the Fringe".
A spokesman for The Ironworks said “we are delighted to co-promote this classic band with Medicine Wheels".
